Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique to draft in Gerard Gumbau as Rafinha replacement

Barcelona manager Luis Enrique reveals that youth player Gerard Gumbau will be drafted into his first-team squad as a regular replacement for the injured Rafinha.

Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique has revealed that youth player Gerard Gumbau will be drafted into his first-team squad as a regular replacement for Rafinha.

Brazilian midfielder Rafinha tore his anterior cruciate ligament against Roma, and after Gumbau was in the Barca squad for their Champions League tie against the Serie A club, manager Enrique has revealed that the 20-year-old is likely to become a regular inclusion in matchday squads.

"We'll dip in to the youth team because we have no other option," he told reporters. "We're going to use Gumbau, who is very promising."

Gumbau has made just one previous appearance for Barcelona, in a Copa del Rey match against Elche in January.
