Barcelona are reportedly ready to formally offer Lionel Messi a new long-term contract.
While Messi has shown very little interest in ever leaving Camp Nou, the forward currently has just 18 months remaining on his existing deal.
There has also been the suggestion that the Argentina international is able to push through a move to another club at the end of the season.
However, various reports in Spain have claimed that the Catalan giants have informed Jorge Messi - Lionel's father and agent - that they wish to hand the 32-year-old fresh terms.
The La Liga leaders allegedly want their long-serving player to pen a deal which would run until the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
The alleged development comes with Messi having contributed 14 goals and nine assists from 17 outings in Spain's top flight and the Champions League this season.
