Queens Park Rangers see off Barnsley

Goals from Charlie Austin, Yun Suk-Young and an own goal from Jean-Yves Mvoto give Queens Park Rangers the win in their Championship game against Barnsley.

Goals from Charlie Austin, Yun Suk-Young and an own goal from Jean-Yves Mvoto have given Queens Park Rangers the win in their Championship game against Barnsley this afternoon.

Dale Jennings fashioned the first real chance of the game when he raced past debutant Coll Donaldson, but he could only poke an effort into the side netting.

Chris O'Grady, who was presented with Barnsley's player of the season award prior to the game, then forced a good save from QPR keeper Robert Green on the turn.

With little but pride riding on the game for both teams, chances were at a premium as the first half wore on.

QPR sprung into life just before the break, however, and got two goals in quick succession.

First, Charlie Austin slotted home for his 100th professional goal before the unfortunate Mvoto put the ball into his own net two minutes later.

Barnsley got one back after the restart when Jennings whipped in a cross for O'Grady to head home.

The goal gave them confidence and Green had to be alert to keep out Peter Ramage's header from a Tykes corner.

Yun sealed the win for QPR despite O'Grady's late consolation goal when he took on three Barnsley defenders and fired into the net.
