Former Barnsley winger Martin Devaney signs for Tranmere Rovers

Martin Devaney completes his move to Tranmere Rovers after six seasons with Barnsley.

Martin Devaney has made the switch to Prenton Park after signing a one-year deal with Tranmere.

The 31-year-old was released by Barnsley this summer after totalling 415 appearances over six seasons.

Rovers boss Les Parry has said that the winger will add a creative flair to the League One side.

"I'm delighted to be able to bring a player of Martin's quality to the club,” BBC Sport quotes Parry as saying.

"He'll add creativity to our team and look to get forward as often as he can, providing some great opportunities for our strikers.

"He's a great crosser of the ball, can beat players and pick out a teammate. He's got plenty of experience in the Championship and will be a great addition to our squad."

Tranmere kick off their new campaign at home to Chesterfield on Saturday, August 6.
