Oliver Khan thinks that Germany will not win major titles until they learn to defend against imposing strikers like Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Former Bayern Munich goalkeeper Oliver Khan has revealed that he thinks Germany need to overcome their difficulty of defending against physical players to win major competitions.

Germany let a four-goal advantage slip against Sweden in their last match thanks to an inspired performance from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Khan believes that Germany must follow the example of reigning world champions Spain in dealing with the problem.

He told Fanorakel.de: "You can't solve every situation with technical skills. It's no coincidence that we struggled against players like Mario Balotelli, Ibrahimovic and Didier Drogba.

"Spain has German virtues like willpower, tactical discipline, tackling strength and to never give up. They have recognised that every offensive team can only succeed if they attack right after they have lost the ball.

"The world and European champions have proved that the beauty of the game doesn't need to suffer from the offence not playing with these virtues."

Khan won 86 caps during a 12-year career international career.
