Stuart Pearce predicts that Jack Butland's maturity will serve him well in his career.

Stuart Pearce has insisted that Jack Butland has a big future in the game after impressing with Team GB at the Olympics.

The Birmingham City goalkeeper has reportedly attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs this summer and Pearce is confident that the 19-year-old can continue to develop.

"Jack has everything in front of him. He went to the World Under-21s Championship and conceded one goal in four games," Pearce said. "And while getting to the top takes a lot of work and dedication, he is where he wants to be in terms of what he wants to achieve.

"He has played for the Under-21s, been with the seniors at this summer's European Championships – and rightly so – and had the benefit of working with England's number one, Joe Hart. Now he has had Olympics experience. He is 19 with the head of a 26-year-old."

Birmingham manager Lee Clark has insisted that Butland will not leave the club this summer.
