Football Association charge Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston with misconduct

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston is charged with misconduct by the FA.

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association.

Oyston made an apology in December after it was revealed that he was involved in an angry text exchange with a supporter.

However, the businessman has now been charged by the FA for allegedly breaching a number of their rules.

"It is alleged that the misconduct constituted five breaches of FA rules, and that during the text message exchange, Mr Oyston used abusive and/or insulting words towards a supporter of Blackpool FC," read an official FA statement.

"It is further alleged that each of these five breaches of FA Rule E3(1) is an 'Aggravated Breach' as defined in Rule E3(2), as each included a reference to disability."

Oyston has until 6pm on March 30 to respond to the charge.
