Blackpool boss Ian Holloway praises Matt Phillips following the 20-year-old's performance in their 3-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup.

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway believes that Matt Phillips has the potential to be better than former Tangerine midfielder Charlie Adam.

Phillips, 20, scored the opener in his side's 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in their FA Cup fourth-round replay on Tuesday evening, and Holloway led the tributes.

"People didn't realise how good Charlie Adam was and I think this kid could be potentially better. That's as complete as a performance as I've seen from him tonight. I thought his defensive duties and his attacking was exceptional," Holloway told ESPN.

"He's showing great maturity at only the age of 20 – and he's English. You seem to get more money for English players, don't you?"

Blackpool will face Everton in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
