Robert Lewandowski seals win for Borussia Dortmund

A Robert Lewandowski goal gives Borussia Dortmund a 1-0 victory over Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga.

A second-half goal from Robert Lewandowski was enough to give Borussia Dortmund victory over Weder Bremen in the Bundesliga this evening.

The home side dominated the first half, with Jakub Blaszczykowski creating several chances for Dortmund including a 37th-minute strike by the Pole, which was denied by the crossbar.

Lewandowski had a chance to score just before the break, picking up the ball from Nuri Sahin on the edge of the box, but Sebastian Mielitz was able to keep the ball out.

The hosts had a chance shortly after the re-start with Marco Reus trying to curl the ball in from a free kick, but Sebastian Prodl was able to head it away.

Last season's Bundesliga runners-up finally managed to break the deadlock in the 55th minute, as Reus tore down the right sideline before picking out Lewandowski, giving the striker an easy tap-in.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang came close to doubling Dortmund's lead, creating space in the box before sending his finish straight at Mielitz.

Kroos managed to steal the ball for the visitors inside the last 10 minutes, setting up Franco di Santo for an attempted equalizer, but his effort was tipped wide by Roman Weidenfeller, allowing the home side to hold on for the win.
