Luiz Gustavo: 'Leaving Bayern Munich helped my development'

Brazilian holding midfielder Luiz Gustavo reveals that moving away from Bayern Munich has helped him to develop into a better player.

Brazil midfielder Luiz Gustavo has revealed that leaving Bayern Munich last year to join Wolfsburg has helped him to develop into a better player.

Gustavo, who has been one of Brazil's most impressive performers so far in the tournament, linked his development with a move away from the German champions.

"A lot of good things happened at Bayern which I have remembered, as well as some bad things which force you to learn and evolve," the player revealed at a press conference in Brazil, according to Gulf News.

"Leaving that club was not an easy moment, but it was the start of a learning curve and I have come out of it even stronger."

Brazil made it through the group stages without too much strain and will now face Chile in the last 16 on Saturday.
