Former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen will become a Brentford player within the next 72 hours, according to a report.

Christian Eriksen is reportedly set to make his return to football with a move to Brentford next week.

The former Tottenham Hotspur man has not taken to the field since his gut-wrenching cardiac arrest while representing Denmark at Euro 2020, which led to him being fitted with an implantable cardiovascular defibrillator.

Eriksen's time at Inter Milan came to an end due to Serie A prohibiting players with ICD's to compete in the league, with the 29-year-old instead training with former club Ajax to build his fitness.

Now, The Mirror reports that Eriksen will put pen to paper on a Brentford contract within the next 72 hours, as the ex-Tottenham man aims to play his way into Denmark's squad for this year's World Cup.

The report adds that Ajax players were left 'shocked' at Eriksen's fitness levels during training, and the playmaker just needs to pass a medical to link up with Thomas Frank's squad.

The Denmark international previously banked 51 goals and 67 assists in 226 Premier League appearances with Tottenham and is also believed to have attracted interest from clubs in Germany and the Netherlands.
