Chris Powell: 'Charlton Athletic have found new heroes'

Chris Powell admits that Charlton Athletic needed to find "different heroes" after losing two key players.

Charlton Athletic manager Chris Powell has claimed that the club were forced to find "different heroes" after losing key players in the January transfer window.

The Addicks allowed both Yann Kermorgant and Dale Stephens to leave last month, and Powell believes that his new-look side need to quickly adapt to the demands of English football.

"We can't dwell on it and have brought in a number of foreign players that have to get used to the FA Cup and Championship straight away," the Charlton manager admitted to reporters.

"It's now a different Charlton. Your heroes aren't there for ever, but you find different heroes.

"This year has tested the other side of me as a manager and I want to come out of it the other side with the team and our status in tact. That is what is driving me on."

Charlton face Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup on Saturday.
