Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has given his support to England manager Roy Hodgson.

Hodgson's first game in charge saw the Three Lions beat Norway 1-0 in Oslo and he will be looking for another result when his side take on Belgium at Wembley on Saturday.

Many fans have lowered their expectations since Hodgson took over from Fabio Capello, but Cahill doesn't understand why.

"I don't see why it should [lower expectations]," he said. "It is the same players who have come in. The manager who has come in is vastly experienced in football around the world.

"I only met the gaffer twice before meeting up with England and he came across well.

"I am looking forward to working with him and his staff. We have some fantastic players and a great squad. And we are going in with a vastly experienced manager."

Cahill has been handed the number five shirt for Euro 2012.
