Benifca playmaker Pablo Aimar claims the current Chelsea is the "weakest" in a decade at the club, ahead of the Europa League final on Wednesday.

Benfica midfielder Pablo Aimar believes that the current Chelsea squad is the "weakest" under the ownership of Roman Abramovich.

The Russian has been the club's owner for 10 years and the Argentine playmaker feels that the side who will meet the Portuguese outfit in the Europa League final on Wednesday is the worst during his reign at Stamford Bridge.

"Since they have inherited a wealthy owner (Abramovich), this is probably the weakest Chelsea team there has been," The Mirror quotes Aimar as saying.

"Of course, Chelsea are a big club, but this is not the same team that won the Champions League a year ago. This team got knocked out at the group stages. They have not been convincing in Europe or in the Premier League. And it is a team that is not behind the coach [Rafael Benitez]. We can take advantage of the fact they are not at their best and not playing as a team.

"Then players who have been so important like John Terry and Frank Lampard are not even getting games. It is amazing how much a team can change in 12 months, but that is football."

Benfica were beaten 2-1 by domestic rivals Porto on Saturday evening.
