Man City win 4-3 on penalties

Chris Sutton calls for Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to be sacked

Chris Sutton calls for Kepa Arrizabalaga to leave Chelsea following his refusal to exit the field late on in Sunday's EFL Cup final loss to Manchester City.

Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton has insisted that Kepa Arrizabalaga should never play for the club again following his 'disgraceful' show of dissent towards Maurizio Sarri.

Kepa's refusal to leave the field during the closing stages of Sunday's EFL Cup final against Manchester City stole the headlines.

The Spain international picked up an injury and Sarri wanted to bring on back-up keeper Willy Caballero for the penalty shootout.

Despite saving one pen, Man City went on to win the shootout 4-3 following a stalemate after 120 minutes, but Kepa's undermining of Sarri was the biggest talking point.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Sutton said: "Kepa should never play for Chelsea again. That should be his last performance in a Chelsea shirt. He's a disgrace. I've never seen anything like it.

"If I was Sarri I would walk. You cannot be undermined. Why weren't the players dragging Kepa off anyway? Kepa should be sacked, not Sarri."

Kepa released a statement on Sunday evening to explain why he remained on the field, insisting that he did not defy Sarri's instructions.
