Rafa Benitez: 'I didn't hear booing'

Rafa Benitez says that he didn't hear any Chelsea fans booing him during his side's 0-0 draw with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

New Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez has insisted that he didn't hear any fans booing him during his side's draw with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The former Liverpool boss was appointed as the Londoners' chief until the end of the season following the sacking of Roberto Di Matteo, but has proved an unpopular choice among the supporters of the European champions.

The Spaniard took charge of his first Blues match in the 0-0 draw with the Premier League champions, but is adamant that he didn't hear any abuse hurled towards him.

"I was not listening to anything, I was just focused on the game, I just focused on my job," said Benitez.

"There's not anything I can do. I can understand some people will not be happy because of the rivalry between Chelsea and Liverpool but it is part of football.

"All the clubs are the same, if you win the fans will be happier. They know from the first press conference I want to win and they want to win, so we'll win together."

Chelsea host Fulham in their next match on Wednesday.
