Chelsea boss Antonio Conte: 'Playing on deadline day is not right'

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte says that clubs should not have been forced to play Premier League fixtures on the final day of the January transfer window.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has claimed that he is one of many coaches in the Premier League who is against playing fixtures on deadline day.

On Wednesday night, 14 clubs will take part in top-flight encounters at a time when the majority of teams will be contemplating last-minute deals before the end of the January window.

Conte has admitted that he does not support the scheduling of the club's meeting with Bournemouth, and it is a subject which should be discussed by Premier League officials.

At a press conference, the 48-year-old told reporters: "It's not right to have a match when there is the deadline passing on the market, this is not right. Not right.

"You can't have this type of situation. To have players who stay half and half. In the future, whoever decides the fixtures should reflect a bit before deciding to prepare this type of situation. Now I have to face this situation. There are many coaches who don't like to have a game when there is the deadline of the transfer market."

Conte has insisted that forward Michy Batshuayi will feature against the Cherries, although the Belgian striker is currently being linked with a transfer to Borussia Dortmund.
