Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld will not make his return from a hamstring injury in the Premier League fixture with Manchester United.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that defender Toby Alderweireld will not feature against Manchester United on Wednesday night.

Alderweireld has not made an appearance since November 1, when the Belgian international sustained a hamstring injury in the 3-1 victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Earlier this month, the 28-year-old declared himself fit for selection after a return to training but Pochettino opted to leave the player out against Newport County at the weekend.

The Argentine's stance has remained the same, with Alderweireld still not in contention to return to the first-team squad.

However, Pochettino revealed at his pre-match press conference that Danny Rose could play a part in the encounter at Wembley Stadium.
