Alessandro Proto: 'AS Monaco want Jose Mourinho'

AS Monaco attempt to lure Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho to the club, according to shareholder Alessandro Proto.

A shareholder in AS Monaco has claimed that they have attempted to lure Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho to the French club.

The Portuguese coach has had questions raised over his future following Chelsea's slow start to the new Premier League season, which sees them 15th in the table.

It has been suggested that Mourinho could be sacked if Chelsea lose to Liverpool this weekend and, according to Alessandro Proto, Monaco are ready to make a move for him.

"On Saturday night the first contact was made with Jose Mourinho about training Monaco," Proto told Spanish newspaper Sport.

"We are still in a very early stage but we are convinced that Mourinho could train Monaco."

Monaco, who are eighth in Ligue 1, are currently managed by former Sporting Lisbon boss Leonardo Jardim.
