Mohamed Salah "truly happy" to join Fiorentina from Chelsea

Mohamed Salah is hopeful that his loan move to Fiorentina from Chelsea will be a "step forward" in his career.

Mohamed Salah has expressed his determination to help Fiorentina succeed, after joining the Italian club from Chelsea on transfer deadline day.

The 22-year-old signed for the Serie A side on loan for the rest of the season after falling down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

"I am truly happy to be here," Salah told Fiorentina's official television channel. "I really hope this is a step forward in my career. I know that my move to Fiorentina has generated a lot of interest in Egypt and I hope I can do well and help the team succeed."

Salah, who moved to Chelsea from Basel last year, was used as part of a deal that brought Juan Cuadrado to the Premier League.
