How Chelsea could line up against Tottenham Hotspur

Sports Mole looks at how Chelsea could line up for Sunday's Premier League showdown with fellow high-fliers Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge.

High-flying Chelsea welcome league leaders Tottenham Hotspur and former manager Jose Mourinho back to Stamford Bridge for a mouth-watering London derby on Sunday.

The Blues have won their last six games across all competitions to climb up to third in the Premier League table, and another win this weekend would see them leapfrog their capital rivals after 10 games.

However, Spurs have flourished under the man who previously helped to transform Chelsea from also-rans into title winners at the start of the Roman Abramovich era, which marks its 1,000th game in fitting fashion on Sunday.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Frank Lampard could set his side up for the showdown.

Chelsea have that rarest of luxuries in such a busy fixture schedule - a fully-fit squad.

Christian Pulisic is the only player over whom a slight question mark hangs, with Lampard confirming that the winger is now back in contention but may not be ready to start this weekend.

If anything, a clean bill of health leaves Lampard with even more selection headaches, although they are the type of headaches which every manager wishes to have.

Most notably, Chelsea have a long list of forwards battling for a place in the front three, almost all of whom have either found the back of the net themselves or assisted a goal recently.

Callum Hudson-Odoi and Olivier Giroud joined that list in midweek, but Lampard may feel that his side's current form makes the first-choice trio of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Tammy Abraham undroppable right now.

Abraham has scored in Chelsea's last two league games and could make it three on the bounce for the first time since September 2019, while he has scored twice as many goals as any other Chelsea player since the start of last season.

Kai Havertz is also back in contention for a starting role and could replace Mateo Kovacic in the starting XI alongside N'Golo Kante and Mason Mount.

Thiago Silva is now ready to start again after missing out in their last league outing, while Reece James should come back into the side after sitting out in midweek.

In goal, Edouard Mendy has kept seven clean sheets in his 10 appearances for Chelsea so far, although one of the three goals he has conceded came against Spurs and he will be coming up against two of the most in-form forwards in the division in Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.
