A report claims that Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri may be offered the chance to return to Serie A with AC Milan ahead of next season.

AC Milan have reportedly identified Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri as a possible successor to Gennaro Gattuso.

The Italian side are expected to part company with Gattuso at the end of the season if they miss out on a top-four finish in Serie A.

According to the Evening Standard, Sarri may be offered the chance to return to his homeland just a year after leaving Napoli as Milan are weighing up an offer.

Roma had also previously expressed an interest in the 60-year-old, but they have prioritised former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte instead.

Sarri's future at Stamford Bridge is unclear following a mixed first campaign in English football, which could still end with silverware as the Blues are into the semi-finals of the Europa League.
