Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has insisted that Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill is not the club's only target in January.
The Blues are said to be closing in on a move for Cahill after Alex's decision to submit a transfer request earlier in the month.
The England defender is out of contract in the summer and could move for a figure of £7m, but Villas-Boas admits that he has a number of other targets in mind.
"Regarding what we are trying to do in central defence, we are trying to close a deal for Gary Cahill but I don't think we will do much more than that. Maybe one player," Villas-Boas told the club's official website.
"Central defence is our number one priority and we will try to solve it as soon as possible. We had initial talks with Bolton but that doesn't mean he is our only target."
Chelsea will attempt to reignite their title bid when they host Aston Villa on Saturday.
