Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to terminate the contract of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who is keen to seek pastures new after 11 years in North London.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to terminate the contract of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

The 36-year-old has just under a year remaining on his current deal, but has made it clear that he is keen to seek pastures new after 11 years in North London.

Lloris, who has been stripped of the Spurs captaincy, had been heavily linked with a move to Lazio, but a switch to the Serie A club failed to materialise as the Frenchman was unwilling to play second fiddle behind current number one Ivan Provedel.

A possible return to boyhood club Nice was also mooted for Lloris, who is also understood to have turned down the chance to move to Saudi Arabia.

Tottenham's London rivals Chelsea were also credited with an interest in the veteran shot-stopper, but they instead completed the signing of Djordje Petrovic to provide backup for fellow new recruit Robert Sanchez.

Lloris is now struggling to find himself a new club and is not in the first-team plans of new Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou, who is content with new first-choice Guglielmo Vicario and backup Fraser Forster in the goalkeeping department.

According to Football Insider, Lloris could have his £100,000-a-week contract terminated by Tottenham in an attempt to advance the process of finding a new club.

Although Lloris has previously rebuffed interest from Saudi Arabia, a move to the Middle East remains a viable option as their transfer window does not shut until Thursday.

He could also be presented with offers from clubs in the Turkish Super Lig as their transfer window does not closes until September 15.

Lloris has made a total of 447 appearances for Tottenham across all competitions since joining from Nice in 2012, keeping 151 clean sheets.

The goalkeeper started 25 times in the Premier League last season, but he was unable to help Spurs qualify for European competition, with his last appearance between the sticks coming in a heavy 6-1 away defeat to Newcastle United in April.

Lloris has not won a trophy during his time at Spurs, but he did come close to lifting silverware when they reached the EFL Cup final in 2014-15 and the Champions League final in 2018-19.

In the absence of Lloris, Vicario has kept two cleans sheets in four Premier League starts so far this season, with Postecoglou's side sitting second in the table after picking up 10 points, just two points fewer than leaders Manchester City.
