Timo Werner will reportedly complete his return to RB Leipzig on Monday after the Bundesliga club and Chelsea reached an agreement on a permanent deal.

Timo Werner will reportedly complete his return from Chelsea to RB Leipzig on Monday.

The Germany international still has three years left on his Chelsea contract, but has expressed a desire to leave this summer to gain more playing time before the World Cup in November.

Werner started 29 Premier League in his first season with the Blues, but only featured in 15 starting lineups in the league last term, which has resulted in the striker being linked with a move away.

Real Madrid and Newcastle United were among those credited with showing an interest, but the 26-year-old is set to complete a return to the club he left two years ago.

According to Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Werner is set to sign for Leipzig on a permanent deal with the transfer to be completed on Monday.

With an agreement already in place between the two clubs, Chelsea and Leipzig will sign all necessary documents in order for the transfer to be announced at the start of the week.

Werner is set to depart after scoring 23 goals and racking up 21 assists in his 89 appearances for Chelsea.
