Paul Cook up for League Two Manager of the Month award

Chesterfield boss Paul Cook is among the candidates to win April's League Two Manager of the Month award.

Chesterfield boss Paul Cook has been nominated for April's League Two Manager of the Month award after guiding his side to the title.

A five-match unbeaten run during the month saw the Spireites secure their return to League One with one game to spare.

Southend United's Phil Brown is also on the shortlist as three wins from five games helped his team book their place in the playoffs.

Northampton Town boss Chris Wilder joins Cook and Brown as a nominee after three victories all but sealed the Cobblers' place in the fourth tier for another season.

Finally, Portsmouth's Andy Awford is up for the award as four wins and a draw saw Pompey move away from the drop zone and towards midtable.

The winner of the award will be announced on Friday morning.
