Euro 2012 organisers confirm that four stewards required hospital treatment after being attacked by Russian fans last night.

Four stewards required hospital treatment after they were attacked by Russian supporters at the Wroclaw Stadium last night.

The reported violence is believed to have taken place after Russia had recorded a 4-1 victory over the Czech Republic last night.

Despite the requirement for medical attention, Euro 2012 organiser Marcin Herra has described the situation as "normal".

"After the Russia versus Czech Republic match a fight broke out. A large number of fans in Russia T-shirts attacked security guards then ran away. Four guards were hospitalised but were soon released after receiving first aid," Herra told TVP INFO.

"Such things can occur over the next 22 days. If it gets hot, drinks will be consumed and such things can happen. It's a normal situation."

News of the violence has come on the same day that some Russian fans have been accused of racially abusing Czech Republic defender Theodor Gebre Selassie.
