The Wales Under-21 international joined the Blades on an initial one-month deal on March 6.
Freeman, who spent the early part of the campaign on loan at Notts County, has made seven appearances so far for the League One side.
United return to action on Tuesday night when they welcome Rotherham United to Bramall Lane in the league.
