Young goalkeeper Jack Butland reveals his excitement ahead of his potential debut for the England senior side.

Goalkeeper Jack Butland has revealed that he will be realising a dream if he makes his senior England debut on Wednesday night.

The 19-year-old was drafted in as part of the Three Lions squad to face Italy following his stint at the Olympic Games with Team GB.

Having seen number one Joe Hart withdraw because of a back injury, the odds have shortened on Butland making an appearance between the posts.

"[Making my debut is] what dreams are made of," he told reporters. "If I get a chance it would be a dream come true. It is something that I cannot stop thinking about. Hopefully it happens on Wednesday night."

As well as his exploits with Team GB, the Birmingham City keeper was also part of the England squad that competed at Euro 2012.

Reflecting on the previous few weeks, Butland believes that he is a better player as a result of both experiences.

"I think as a goalkeeper, experience is a massive thing," he added. "Being able to see how the likes of Joe Hart and Rob Green train was as beneficial as the Olympics.

"I cannot explain how that has helped me experience wise. I cannot fault anything."

Butland spent last season on loan with Cheltenham Town.
