Roy Hodgson is pleased with England's passing game in the 5-0 home victory over San Marino.

England manager Roy Hodgson was pleased with his side's passing in Friday's 5-0 win against San Marino at Wembley.

England took 34 minutes to break the deadlock against the lowest-ranked side in international football but Hodgson was delighted that the Three Lions continued to press throughout the 90 minutes.

"I thought we were very patient," Hodgson said. "We passed the ball well from the first minute to the last and played the way we wanted to play.

"We kept probing. It was always going to be hard to find clear-cut chances but I am more than happy with how the players worked very, very hard to keep the passing tempo up and to keep the ball.

"I think it's churlish if one was to start criticising if we've won 5-0. We've won the game comfortably."

England travel to Poland on Tuesday having taken seven points from their opening three games in Group H.
