Getafe score two answered goals to claim the victory from their meeting with struggling Espanyol.

Goals either side of the break from Pedro Leon and Jose Mane secured all three points for Getafe from their trip to Espanyol this afternoon.

Having dominated the opening exchanges, visiting Getafe broke the deadlock with 17 minutes played. Mane found Leon inside the area and the former Real Madrid winger converted from 12 yards out.

Struggling Espanyol created a handful of chances after the restart, but they were unable to find an equaliser.

Their chances of claiming anything from the encounter were ended in stoppage time when Mane's left-footed effort from a Diego Castro cross found the net.

The defeat means that Barcelona-based Espanyol stay bottom of the La Liga table.
