Report: Espanyol close to Gerard Moreno deal

A report claims that Espanyol are close to signing Villarreal's Spanish forward Gerard Moreno.

Espanyol are reportedly closing in on a move for Villarreal forward Gerard Moreno.

The 23-year-old has been with the Yellow Submarine since 2010 and has a scoring record of 10 goals in 40 league games for the club.

Villarreal's transfer business this summer is expected to harm Moreno's chances of first-team football next season, however, which has led to widespread speculation of a move away from El Madrigal.

According to Sport, Espanyol are close to securing the forward's services, with a deal expected to be completed later this week.

Moreno made his first-team debut for Villarreal in 2012.
