Roy Hodgson wants Phil Neville to become part of his England coaching staff.

Everton midfielder Phil Neville could be set for a shock call to be a part of England's coaching team for Euro 2012.

The 35-year-old only yesterday hinted that he will pursue a coaching career when his playing days are over.

The former Manchester United player tweeted: "Done my prep course very interesting lots of hard work to do to become a coach/manager – as a player it looks easy it's not!"

Neville is the first choice of the Football Association and Roy Hodgson to join the England backroom staff for the European Championship next month, according to The Independent.

Hodgson is hopeful that Neville, who has 59 England caps to his name, will give his backroom staff a youthful element and act as the bridge between staff and players, having played alongside many of the current squad.
