Agent: 'No Everton contact for Frank de Boer'

Managerial frontrunner Frank de Boer has not yet been approached to take over at Everton, according to agent Guido Albers.

The agent of Frank de Boer has revealed that Everton have yet to make contact with the ex-Ajax boss after he emerged as the favourite to take over at Goodison Park.

Everton are expected to officially announce the departure of Roberto Martinez at some stage over the next 24 hours following growing pressure from supporters.

De Boer, who left Ajax on Thursday after narrowly missing out on a fifth Eredivisie title this season, was instantly linked with the Everton job due to agent Guido Albers claiming that the 45-year-old would "love to join" a club like the Toffees.

Albers has now told BBC Sport that no approach has been made at this stage, however, but hinted that De Boer would still be interested in taking on the soon-to-be-vacant role on Merseyside.

"This is an amazing club," he said. "They will have their own shortlist. If Frank is on the shortlist, I don't know.

"I think it will be like most of the Premier League clubs now. There's so much quality in the [Everton] team; so much quality in the board so it gives a lot of possibilities."

Former boss David Moyes is also among those thought to be in contention to replace Martinez, while outgoing Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has also been touted as a possible candidate.
