Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard believes that Kevin Mirallas will 'fill the void' in this Sunday's Merseyside derby against Liverpool.

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard is confident that winger Kevin Mirallas will stand out in this weekend's Merseyside derby against Liverpool.

The Belgium international will be involved in his first encounter between the two sides since joining the club in the summer but Howard believes that his inexperience could be an advantage.

"It'll be a big one for him," Howard told the Liverpool Echo. "Sometimes your best opportunity in a derby is when you're a foreigner and you don't really know the pressure and the rivalry. He's going to have to fill a void for us and we're confident he can do it well."

The local rivals come together at Goodison Park on Sunday.
