Boss Joachim Low has admitted that Germany deserved to be eliminated from the World Cup after losing to South Korea on Wednesday.
Victory would have been enough for Germany to progress through to the last 16 of the competition, but two goals in added-on time gave South Korea a famous win.
The defeat means that Germany have suffered an early exit for the first time since 1938, and Low has acknowledged that the disappointment that he and his first-team squad is experiencing is "huge".
The 58-year-old is quoted by FIFA's official website as saying: "At the moment it is hard to say why we have been eliminated. The disappointment of us being eliminated is just huge. We didn't deserve to be winning the World Cup once again, we didn't deserve to move into the round of 16.
"Our team in this match was missing the ease of play and the classiness that we normally display. Also the dynamism that led to the goalscoring opportunities was not there, so we deserve to be eliminated."
The two-goal defeat also means that Germany finish bottom of Group F.
