Cesare Prandelli: No problem if Italy don't participate

Italy coach Cesare Prandelli says that it would be "no problem" if his side were not allowed to participate in Euro 2012 amidst another match-fixing scandal.

Italy coach Cesare Prandelli has claimed that he wouldn't have a problem with his side being withdrawn from Euro 2012 amidst another match-fixing crisis.

Lazio captain Stefano Mauri was one of 19 people arrested due to the alleged scandal, while Zenit St Petersburg defender Domenico Criscito was dropped from Prandelli's squad after being questioned at the national team's training headquarters.

After suggestions by the Italian Prime Minister that the game would benefit from being suspended for "two or three years", Prandelli said that it wouldn't be a problem if they were banned from this summer's tournament.

"If you told us that for the good of football we should not participate, it wouldn't be a problem for me," Prandelli told RaiSport.

"There are things that I believe are more important."

Prandelli has been in charge of the national team since 2010, and is set to come up against Spain, Republic of Ireland and Croatia in the group stages of Euro 2012.
