Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri says that his side have "bigger ambitions of winning the Champions League" after signing Cristiano Ronaldo for £100m.

Massimiliano Allegri has admitted that winning the Champions League is now a realistic target for Juventus following the summer arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Italian champions have reached the showpiece final twice in the last four seasons, only to lose against Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Five-time European champion Ronaldo has been added to Juve's ranks since the end of the last campaign, however, with £100m being spent to recruit the competition's record scorer, and Allegri now hopes to go one better than in 2015 and 2017.

"Naturally, we have bigger ambitions of winning the Champions League than in previous years, just as we want the Scudetto, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana," he told Sky Sport Italia.

"Ronaldo has above all brought experience at international level and is an extra motivation for the younger guys to aim higher. You don't win five Ballon d'Or trophies for nothing and you can see how hard he works to get there.

"However, Real Madrid have won four of the last five editions of the Champions League and they did that through hard work. We've got to work, too, and this is the first time I've really seen the whole squad play together."

Ronaldo scored twice in the 2015 final as Madrid beat Juventus 4-1 in Cardiff.
