Everton sign Jack Harrison on a season-long loan deal from Leeds United, but confirm that the winger is carrying a "minor hip injury".

Everton have signed Jack Harrison on a season-long loan deal from Leeds United.

The 26-year-old underwent his medical with the Toffees on Sunday, but reports suggested that Aston Villa could pull off a late hijack of the deal after Unai Emery contacted the player directly.

However, Villa ultimately walked away from talks after learning of an injury Harrison is currently carrying, which some reports have suggested could keep him out for up to six weeks.

Everton confirmed in their announcement that Harrison is recovering from a hip problem at the moment, but described the injury as "minor".

Harrison has made more than 200 appearances for Leeds since joining in 2018, scoring six goals in 40 appearances last season as the club were relegated from the Premier League.

"Everton have completed the signing of forward Jack Harrison on a season-long loan from Leeds United," read a statement from the club.

"The 26-year-old passed his medical with the club yesterday before completing the necessary paperwork this morning. He will now continue his rehabilitation from a minor hip injury before being available for Sean Dyche's squad."

The exact length of Harrison's injury layoff has not been confirmed, but he will not be fit to feature against Aston Villa - the club that almost signed him - this Sunday.

The winger becomes Everton's fourth signing of the summer, following Ashley Young, Arnaut Danjuma and Youssef Chermiti through the door at Goodison Park.

Young and Danjuma both featured as Dyche's side opened their new campaign with a disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Fulham on Saturday.
