Everton are reportedly interested in a move for Leicester City striker Patson Daka, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin still suffering from lingering injury concerns.

Everton have reportedly shown interest in Leicester City striker Patson Daka in an attempt to solve their current striking woes.

The Zambian forward was part of the Foxes side which were relegated from the Premier League last season, with Everton being the side which stayed up at their expense.

Daka was an unused substitute in Leicester's 2-1 win over Coventry City in their Championship opener on Sunday afternoon.

Journalist Alan Myers claims that Everton are now in the race for Daka as the club continues to seek reinforcement to solve their glaring attacking issues.

With the Premier League season less than a week away, Everton are still yet to sign an out-and-out striker this summer.

Youssef Chermiti's arrival from Sporting Lisbon is imminent, but at 19 years of age, the Portuguese youngster is not expected to be thrust straight into the fold.

Despite returning to action in Everton's final two friendlies of pre-season, Sean Dyche has already confirmed that Dominic Calvert-Lewin will not start their opener against Fulham on Saturday.

With Arnaut Danjuma also currently nursing an injury, Neal Maupay looks set to lead the line when much of the Everton faithful expected him to leave this summer.

After pleading for two new attackers over the summer, time is running out for the Everton hierarchy to meet Dyche's demands, but the acquisition of the Leicester man would be a notable addition.

Daka never found himself as first-choice at the King Power Stadium, often playing second fiddle to Jamie Vardy or Kelechi Iheanacho.

There was massive expectation around the 24-year-old when he initially joined the club from Red Bull Salzburg in 2021 for a reported £23m.

In his two full seasons as a regular with the Austrian champions, Daka netted 61 goals and garnered attention from many clubs around Europe.

For national side Zambia, Daka also has a fine record, having a ratio better than a goal every three games.

However, opportunities have been few and far between at Leicester, as many of his Premier League appearances were off the bench.

Daka still notched nine goals in his two league seasons, but his most eye-catching display was a four-goal salvo in a Europa League encounter away at Spartak Moscow in October 2021.

With Vardy and Iheanacho still around for the time being though, and Stephy Mavididi a recent incoming, Daka's days at the King Power Stadium may now be numbered.
