Claudio Ranieri still looking at Leicester City safety

Claudio Ranieri claims that he still only targeting safety for Leicester City as they go top of the Premier League with a 3-0 win over Swansea City.

Claudio Ranieri has claimed that he is still looking at Premier League survival this season – despite seeing his Leicester City side reach the top of the table on Saturday.

A Riyad Mahrez-inspired Foxes saw them beat Swansea City 3-0 on Saturday with the winger bagging a hat-trick against Garry Monk's struggling Swans.

The victory took Ranieri's men to the top of the table, but the manager is still looking at reaching the 40-point mark that is generally considered to be enough to stay up in the division.

The Italian told Sky Sports News: "No, I don't change my ambitions. My first goal is the [the 40-point mark]. My ambition is very high, but my [first] goal is that.

"Now it is important to play the big teams and they will be tough matches [in December]. The next matches are Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Everton, Manchester City, it is not bad.

"I feel good because we played well, scored three and had another three or four clear chances and we kept a clean sheet. It is important for us to take points and enjoy with the fans. We say 'thank you' to them today."

Leicester host Chelsea on December 14.
