Leicester City are reportedly considering a move for Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend as a possible replacement for Riyad Mahrez.

Leicester City are reportedly considering a move for Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend.

Foxes manager Craig Shakespeare regards the 26-year-old as a potential replacement for Riyad Mahrez should he get his wish of leaving the King Power Stadium this summer, according to The Mirror.

Mahrez is reported to be close to joining Roma, although Shakespeare has confirmed that he intends to field him in this evening's season opener against Arsenal.

Stoke City have already expressed an interest in Townsend although their enquiries have come to nothing.

The England international joined Palace from Newcastle United last summer on a five-year deal.
