Preview: Leicester City Women vs. Everton Women - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Women's Super League clash between Leicester City Women and Everton Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Leicester City Women will welcome Everton Women to the King Power Stadium for Sunday's Women's Super League contest.

The two sides are still waiting for their WSL wins of the season after taking just two points from their opening four matches.

Amandine Miquel is still waiting for her first win as Leicester boss, having seen her side kick off the WSL season with two draws and two defeats.

The Foxes kicked off the WSL campaign with a 1-1 away draw against Liverpool, before they fell to consecutive home defeats against Arsenal and Crystal Palace.

Leicester went on to play out a goalless draw in last Sunday's away clash against Aston Villa, with the result representing their first league clean sheet since January.

However, they have now gone three WSL matches without a win, leaving them with work to do in the final third if they are to start winning games.

While Leicester may be experiencing a poor run of form, they can take confidence from the fact that they have won their last three competitive games against Everton.

Like their hosts, Everton have also struggled in front of goal this season, having scored just once in their opening four league matches.

The Toffees were beaten by Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester United in their opening two games of the season, before they got on the board with a hard-fought goalless draw against Arsenal.

After failing to score in their first three league games, Everton finally got on the scoresheet in last Sunday's clash against West Ham United.

However, they were given a helping hand by their opponents as West Ham defender Camila Saez inadvertently diverted the ball into her own net to cancel out Anouk Denton's opener.

Everton are languishing at the foot of the table on goals scored, but they will look to climb up the table by claiming their first win over Leicester since September 2022.

Team News

Leicester midfielder Jutta Rantala has sustained an injury which will keep her out of action for an extended period.

The Foxes are also without the services of Hannah Cain, Shannon O'Brien and Lena Petermann due to their respective injury issues.

Right-back Asmite Ale could be considered for a starting spot after featuring as a half-time substitute against Aston Villa.

As for the Toffees, they are unable to call upon Aurora Galli, Inma Gabarro and Kenzie Weir due to anterior cruciate ligament injuries.

Elise Stenevik is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Karen Holmgaard is not expected to be passed fit for Sunday's contest.

Greece international Veatriki Sarri is pushing for a recall after coming off the bench to play over half an hour against West Ham.

Leicester City Women possible starting lineup:

We say: Leicester City Women 2-1 Everton Women

While both teams have experienced slow starts to the season, Leicester have managed to enjoy success in recent meetings with the Toffees, and we think that they will draw inspiration from those three consecutive head-to-head wins to claim a narrow victory in Sunday's contest.
