Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen to miss 'three to four weeks'

Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen is ruled out of action for 'three to four weeks' with a hamstring injury.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Joe Allen will be out of action for "three to four weeks" with a hamstring injury.

The midfielder suffered the problem during the Reds' friendly win over Swindon Town last Sunday, and the Welsh international is now expected to be on the sidelines until the start of September.

"He'll probably miss three to four weeks, which is disappointing," Rodgers told reporters. "He certainly won't be available for the weekend."

Liverpool kick off their new Premier League campaign with a trip to Stoke City on Sunday.
