Barcelona 'monitoring Liverpool's Brendan Rodgers'

Brendan Rodgers is attracting interest from Spanish giants Barcelona, according to a report.

Barcelona are reportedly considering Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers as a potential replacement for Argentine coach Gerardo Martino.

The Reds are yet to tie the Northern Irishman to a fresh contract and, according to The People, the Catalan giants are monitoring talks between the two parties.

It is believed that the Liverpool boss is one of the frontrunners to replace Martino, should he leave at the end of the season, but Rodgers was quick to dismiss any rumours of his departure.

He said: "I am happy here. It is an incredible club – I love being the manager here.

"I haven't got an agent so I don't have someone pumping stories out there about me not being happy. There will be plenty of time, come the end of the season, to sit down and talk about a new deal."

Rodgers will take his Liverpool side to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on Sunday, knowing that a win would see them close to within four points of leaders Chelsea in the Premier League table.
