Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam has said that he expects Tottenham to be challenging for the Premier League's European places by the end of the season.
The Reds travel to White Hart Lane on Sunday for a Premier League encounter.
"It’s going to be a difficult match," Adam told the club's website.
"Obviously Liverpool and Tottenham were both challenging for a place in the Europa League at the end of last season and Spurs nicked it in the end."
The Scot added that he is under no illusions that Kenny Dalglish’s side are facing opponents of real talent.
"We know we will be in for a tough game because they’ve got good players," he added.
"I played against them for Blackpool last season and at times they were unplayable, but we’ve got good players here and hopefully we can cause them problems.
"You always expect to see Tottenham challenging for the top positions because of the quality they have in their squad."
Liverpool currently sit in sixth place, five points behind the Manchester clubs atop the table while Spurs have only recorded one win this season.
