Gerard Houllier: 'Liverpool can win Premier League this season'

Former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier claims that the current team are "good enough" to win the Premier League title this season.

Former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier has claimed that the current team are "good enough" to win the Premier League title this season.

The Reds have enjoyed a promising start to the new campaign, recording away victories over both Arsenal and Chelsea before thrashing Hull City 5-1 at Anfield last weekend.

Jurgen Klopp's side have moved up to second favourites to win the title as a result, and Houllier believes that there is still more to come from the Merseyside outfit.

"They are good enough [to win the league]," Houllier told reporters.

"They are entertaining and also extremely efficient. You just have to see the number of goals they score. They have a new philosophy and I like the coach. The best is yet to come."

Liverpool currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, five points adrift of early leaders Manchester City.
