Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina says that he welcomes new manager Brendan Rodgers to the club.

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has welcomed Brendan Rodgers's football philosophy at the club following the Northern Irishman's appointment at Anfield.

The former Swansea City manager was praised for his passing and flowing football with the Welsh side in the Premier League last season, which alerted the Merseyside outfit to tie down the 39-year-old to a three-year deal.

"His team has played well this year with an ethos that I share and Liverpool is also known to play the passing game but it is easier said than done," El Pais quotes Reina as saying

"Rodgers is welcomed and I am at his disposal. We have won [the Carling Cup trophy] this year but it is clear that in recent seasons we should have done better."

Meanwhile, former assistant manager Steve Clarke is expected to become West Bromwich Albion's new manager after leaving his first-team coaching role at Anfield yesterday.
