Reports claim that Brendan Rodgers has reached an agreement with Liverpool to become the club's new manager.

Brendan Rodgers has reportedly agreed a deal to become the new manager of Liverpool.

The 39-year-old is believed to have travelled to Merseyside this afternoon for talks with club officials after Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez ruled himself out of the running.

Liverpool will pay Swansea City between £4m and £5m in compensation to secure the Northern Irishman's services, according to BBC Sport.

While no official announcement is expected to be made until tomorrow, Rodgers is said to have signed a three-year deal at Anfield.

A switch to Liverpool will bring an end to Rodgers's two-year stint with Swansea. He has also managed Watford and Reading, while he was a coach at Chelsea during Jose Mourinho's time at Stamford Bridge.
