Brendan Rodgers: 'Liverpool's best football is ahead of us'

Brendan Rodgers challenges his Liverpool squad to 'keep their momentum going' in order to keep alive their FA Cup, Europa League and Premier League hopes.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes that there is still more to come from his side following an impressive run of recent performances.

The Reds suffered a narrow 2-1 aggregate defeat against Chelsea last week to spell the end of their League Cup hopes at the semi-final stage, although despite the disappointment they still remain in contention on three other fronts.

Bolton Wanderers await in an FA Cup fourth-round replay this evening, while a spell of one defeat in 11 league outings has ensured that Liverpool are still in the hunt for a place in next season's Champions League.

"After the Chelsea game there was a feeling of 'would it disrupt our season or provoke a negative reaction?' But, if anything, it's only promoted the development and the momentum that we have," the Northern Irishman told reporters.

"Of course we wanted to reach the final but the performance level in the two games and leading into those games has given us great encouragement. Our best football is yet to come.

"We had a really difficult start to the season and we needed to find a way to get back to our identity again. We have got that and our best football is ahead of us. We want to take that into the games and get to cup finals. The players are enjoying how they are playing at the moment and we want to keep our momentum going."

Tonight's meeting with Bolton will be Liverpool's 37th game of the campaign, which is only six matches fewer than they played in the whole of last season.
